JEEP Avenger e-Hybrid mini review

19/09/2024 The Jeep Avenger sounds aggressive and tough but in reality it is a cute little urban car that is easy to live with… and love. Its chunky styling is built on a Stellantis Group platform and running gear that is shared with other brands. The exterior features a nod to the JEEP brand’s heritage – the seven slot grille is the most recognisabe element.

Jeep manages to pull off its cute design with faux go anywhere looks that the design team can be proud of. Lots of design elements will raise a smile, but there is no fear of raising anger among onlookers as the car is a very efficient compact mode of transport for up to five – at a squeeze. We like the electric (BEV) version a lot but perhaps like the version we have on test more – the e-Hybrid.

The combination of not having to worry about charging (or charger availability and the time spent at them) and the car’s very impressive low petrol consumption (circa 55mpg) made testing all the more pleasurable. The e-Hybrid uses a turbocharged 1.2 litre petrol engine married to a six speed auto transmission. It pushes out 100hp and 205nm of torque.

The car comes with lots of ADAS including what it calls e-Queing (its moves automatically in stop start traffic), e-Parking (auto parking – its such a small car you’ll never use it) and e-Creeping (no its not a voyeur option but an electric powered creep drive function). Pricing starts from €31,495 for the Longitude grade. Altitude and Summit are the next grades up. You can read our initial Avenger review here: https://motorhub.ie/jeep-avenger-review/

The Avenger range is multi-fuel with petrol, e-Hybrid and EV powered models available – all are impressive! Jeep has also lrecently aunched a 4Xe version that it says: “Brings together Avenger’s distinctive looks, compactness and versatility with the performance of the Jeep brand’s all-wheel-drive system.” Eric Laforge – Head of Jeep Brand in Enlarged Europe: “In the wake of this success, Avenger 4xe will be the new benchmark in the “B- SUV” segment, offering exclusive design, top performance, and representing the full expression of Jeep legacy on all-wheel drive”. The Jeep Avenger is simply a very likeable little car. Michael Sheridan
